Throughout its 80 years, Iphan has been working with partners who support its fundamental mission, which is the preservation of the Brazilian Cultural Heritage. Thus, the International Seminar The Future of Heritage, on October 26 and 27, in Rio de Janeiro, is sponsored by Vale and BNDES, great promoters of Cultural Heritage.
BNDES – National Bank for Economic and Social Development: It systematically supports actions for the preservation of the Brazilian Cultural Heritage since 1997. Initially through the Rouanet Law, the bank's support started, since 2010, also through its own resources, non refundable, from the Cultural Fund. Over these almost 20 years, BNDES has accumulated experience and sought to bring its end-activity - the Brazilian economic and social development - closer to actions in the field of Cultural Heritage. Thus, in 2006, the Bank made the strategic decision to incorporate support for the culture economy into the operational structure of the institution, not just to sponsor it. In this way, sponsoring the International Seminar The Future of Heritage reinforces the objectives of BNDES, which extrapolate the recovery of Brazilian monuments, to encourage and facilitate the enjoyment of cultural goods efficiently and promote the movement of the economy, including integrated actions to the tourism, the urban revitalization of the environment of the public good, the management of these goods, the generation of employment and income, as well as structuring actions for the sector, such as patrimonial education, training of labor, among others.
VALE – One of the world's largest mining companies, Vale's mission is to transform natural resources into prosperity and sustainable development. For this, one of the pillars of the company's social responsibility is Cultural Policy, based on the valorization of knowledge and traditions, believing in the transformative potential of culture. Thus, in actions such as sponsorship of the International Seminar on the Future of Patrimony and the Heritage Magazine, Vale supports initiatives capable of revealing stories, values, expressions and customs, as projects for the preservation and enhancement of Cultural Heritage.
