Resumo: O presente trabalho visa investigar as práticas de restauração realizadas pelo IPHAN nos bens móveis e integrados das igrejas tombadas individualmente em esfera federal – Matriz de Nossa Senhora do Pilar, igreja de Nossa Senhora do Carmo e igreja de São Francisco de Assis – dentro do conjunto urbanístico e arquitetônico de São João del Rei. Tais serviços foram realizados pelo pioneiro Setor de “recuperação de obras de arte” do IPHAN, executados por equipes chefiadas localmente pelos restauradores Jair Afonso Inácio e Geraldo Francisco Xavier Filho (Ládio), que foram orientados e designados pelo restaurador chefe Edson Motta. O recorte temporal estabelecido foi de 1947 até o ano de 1976, por ser o período que mais se concentrou a ação deste setor em obras emergenciais nas igrejas tuteladas pelo IPHAN, marcado também pelo tempo em que Edson Motta trabalhou na instituição, além de ser um momento que apresenta trabalhos de restauração significativos nas igrejas estudadas. Para tal contextualizamos e refletimos sobre os valores da cidade de São João del Rei e de seus monumentos para fins de tombamento, sobre o modo como ocorreu a criação do Setor de recuperação de obras de arte do IPHAN e da formação dos restauradores que nele trabalharam, para finalmente analisarmos como se desenvolveram as ações de restauração realizadas por este setor nas igrejas em questão.

The practices of restoration of movable and integrated goods in the Mother Church of Our Lady of Pilar, Nossa Senhora do Carmo and São Francisco de Assis in São João del Rei / MG (1947-1976)

Abstract: The present work aims to investigate the practices of restoration realized by IPHAN in the mobile and integrated heritage of the churches registered individually in the federal sphere - Our Lady of Pilar mother Church, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and Saint Francis of Assisi Church - within the urban and architectural set of São João del Rei. These services were carried out by IPHAN's pioneering "restoration of works of art" sector, and executed by teams with local boss Jair Afonso Inacio and Geraldo Francisco Xavier Filho, who were guided and appointed by the restorer chief Edson Motta. The time cut established was between 1947 and 1976, because it is the period that most concentrate the action of this sector in emergency works in the churches protected by the IPHAN, which was also marked by the time that Edson Motta worked at the institution, besides this is a time that presents significant restorations in the churches studied. For this we contextualize and reflect on the values of the São João del Rei city and its monuments for purposes of registration, about the way how the creation of the sector destined to the restoration of mobile and integrated heritages inside IPHAN's and the formation of the restaurateurs who worked at this sector. To finally we analyze how the works of restoration carried out by this sector have developed in the churches in question.
