Resumo: Este trabalho é resultado do acompanhamento das ações desenvolvidas pelo Departamento do Patrimônio Imaterial do IPHAN, relativas ao Inventário Nacional da Diversidade Linguística (INDL). O trabalho teve o objetivo de discutir as implicações do reconhecimento das línguas faladas no Brasil no âmbito das políticas de preservação do patrimônio cultural. Para tanto, a pesquisa abordou questões relativas ao tema da diversidade linguística e dos direitos linguísticos, discutindo o contexto de inserção desse tema no campo das políticas de preservação do patrimônio cultural no Brasil e os desdobramentos da atuação do IPHAN no sentido de responder a demandas de promoção do multilinguismo e de reconhecimento das línguas faladas no país como “Referência Cultural Brasileira”.

 When is language heritage? Patrimony policies and promotion of linguistic diversity in the context of the National Inventory of Linguistic Diversity (LNG)

Abstract: This work is a result of the observation of the actions developed by IPHAN's Department of Intangible Heritage, related to the National Inventory of Linguistic Diversity (INDL). The objective of this work was to discuss the implications of the recognition of the spoken languages in Brazil within the scope of policies for the preservation of cultural heritage. Therefore, the research addressed issues related to linguistic diversity and linguistic rights, discussing the context of insertion of this subject in the field of policies for cultural heritage preservation in Brazil and the unfolding of IPHAN's actions in order to respond to demands for the promotion of Multilingualism and the recognition of the spoken languages in the country as "Brazilian Cultural Reference”.
