Resumo: A presente pesquisa se propõe a articular a questão da atribuição de valor, à época do tombamento do sítio histórico de Igarassu-PE e na atualidade, à abordagem territorial, considerando as relações estabelecidas entre o sítio e as demais áreas circunvizinhas. Propõese uma revisão dos valores atribuídos ao Conjunto Arquitetônico e Paisagístico da cidade de Igarassu-PE, bem protegido desde 1972 pelo Instituo do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional – Iphan. Partiu-se de uma análise da construção territorial, considerando as articulações de diferentes naturezas estabelecidas entre as áreas de preservação. A questão da escala é uma problemática extremamente necessária à discussão da conservação do patrimônio cultural de Igarassu. A relação com a Ilha de Itamaracá, com o município de Itapissuma, com o Canal de Santa Cruz, com o rio São Domingos e as respectivas conexões por água e por terra são elementos fundamentais à compreensão do patrimônio cultural de Igarassu. A transformação destas relações interfere, portanto, diretamente em seu sítio histórico, o que torna imprescindível o emprego de abordagens em escalas distintas (regional e local) para garantir a conservação. São a combinação e a sobreposição de tais leituras do território que possibilitam compreendê-lo. Foram realizadas análises dos pareceres técnicos e textos relativos ao município de Igarassu-PE contemporâneos ao tombamento, sobretudo no tocante à leitura dos significados de seu patrimônio cultural, viabilizando o estudo das narrativas que elucidam as diferentes percepções dos bens culturais em questão. Foram considerados, também, os outros valores atribuídos por técnicos do Iphan, por agentes do patrimônio, bem como pela população de Igarassu, obtidos a partir de oficinas e entrevistas. Desta forma, novos valores foram identificados de maneira a fundamentar a conservação de novas áreas do território e esta metodologia analítica favoreceu a percepção da distintas narrativas de valoração de um mesmo bem cultural. Evidenciou-se, portanto, a dimensão simbólica do patrimônio como esfera de reconhecimento e significância do território, através das sucessivas “camadas” de apreensão dos significados ao longo do tempo. A sobreposição ou somatório das distintas percepções e atribuições de valor, em tempos diversos, constituem-se, portanto, na significância cultural do território de Igarassu. Considerar as diferentes dimensões espaciais e fenômenos de diversas naturezas na atribuição de valor e em estratégias de conservação possibilita o entendimento da complexidade envolvida na gestão patrimonial. A análise em diferentes escalas viabiliza a leitura de problemáticas de naturezas distintas fomentando, então, a escolha de instrumentos de gestão e conservação adequados para cada problemática. Cria-se, assim, um sistema/rede de conservação articulado às políticas públicas brasileiras de planejamento territorial e urbano. Entender Igarassu como território e as lógicas de poder que o regem apresenta-se como possibilidade de gerar políticas públicas mais transparentes e que criem sentido no idioma público. Entender os bens em seu contexto territorial e/ou na sua relação com um território mais amplo pode oferecer uma nova perspectiva ao processo de patrimonialização.

Abstract: This research aims to articulate the values assessment at the time of the protection of the historic site of Igarassu-PE and at present time, with a territorial approach, considering the relationship between the site and other surrounding areas. Its proposed a review of the values assigned to the Conjunto Arquitetônico e Paisagístico da cidade de Igarassu-PE, well protected since 1972 by the Institute of National Historical and Artistic Heritage - Iphan. Starting from an analysis of territorial construction, considering the joints of different natures established between conservation areas. The question of scale is an extremely importante problematic to discussing the conservation of cultural heritage of Igarassu. The relationship with Itamaracá, Itapissuma, the Santa Cruz Channel, the São Domingos river and their connections by water and land are key to understanding the cultural heritage of Igarassu. The transformation of these relations interfere, therefore, directly on your historic site, which needs the use of approaches at different scales (regional and local) to ensure conservation. Are the combination and overlap of such readings of the territory that allow the understanding of Igarassu. Analyses of expertise and contemporaries texts, especially with regard to the Reading of the meanings of the cultural heritage, enable the study of narratives that shed light on the different perceptions of cultural property in question. Were considered also the new values assigned by the Iphan, by the stakeholdes in the field of cultural heritage, as well as the community of Igarassu, obtained from interviews and workshops. Thus, new values were identified in order to support the conservation of new areas of this territory and analytical methodology fostered the perception of distinct narratives and valuations of the same cultural eritage. It was evident, therefore, the symbolic dimension of heritage as a sphere of recognition and significance of the territory through successive "layers" of apprehension of meanings over time. The sum or overlap of distinct perceptions and values assessment, at different time, are, therefore, the cultural significance of Igarassu. Consider the diferente dimensions and spatial phenomena of different nature in values assessment and conservation strategies enable the understanding of the complexity involved in the management of cultural eritage. The analysis on different scales allows the comprehension of problems of diferente nature encouraging, then, the choice of management tools and adequate conservation for each problem. It is created, therefore, a system / network that can articulate the conservation policies with the territorial public policy and urban planning. Understand Igarassu’s territory and its logic of power is a possibility to generate policies more transparent and that create meaning in language audience. Understanding the cultural artefacts in its territorial contexto and / or the relationship with a wider territory may offer a new perspective to the process of conservation.
